Philip Wilkinson

Philip Wilkinson has been writing information books for over 15 years and has more than 50 children’s titles to his credit. He writes on a wide variety of subjects but his special strengths lie in history, religion and beliefs, mythology, biography, and the arts – including architecture. One of his first books, Amazing Buildings (Dorling Kindersley), was given an award by the American Institute of Architects for the best children’s book on architecture. A more recent one, on customs, was ‘adopted’ by the United Nations.

Before becoming a full-time writer, Philip worked as an editor in illustrated publishing, so he is used to collaborating with creative teams and knows the importance of following the brief and delivering on time. When not writing for young people, Philip writes adult non-fiction (mostly about history and heritage), gives talks on old buildings, and leads workshops on writing techniques.
