Tristan Boyer Binns

I have been writing children’s illustrated information books for the past seven years. Before then, I was a Publishing Director for Heinemann Library. I also take the photographs to illustrate some of my books.

I am American by birth, but have lived in the UK for fourteen of the past twenty years. I have extensive experience in the US and UK markets, and can write in either version of English. I have acted as a consultant for UK companies wanting to bring their products to the US market. I also handle Americanization or Anglicization projects and other editorial projects.

While I am happy to try pretty much any subject, I am best-versed in history, geography, biography, animals, and basic science. Most of my work has been for the school and public library market, but I have also worked on trade children’s books.

I do school visits, offering workshops in creating non-fiction books, whole-school talks, and poetry workshops. I have run creative writing classes for adults and children.

As part of a series offering a good, basic introduction to the different continents, Antarctica was a bit different. I covered history, living things, geography, and environmental issues.
